Côte d'Ivoire is one of the worst hit countries by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in West Africa. Approximately 450, 000 people are living with HIV, and 440,000 children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. The epidemic has become the leading cause of death among adults leading to at least 36, 000 deaths in 2009, and its impact threatens the country's economic, social and human development.Read more
